Maplewind Miniatures was founded in 2003 after the purchase of my second horse.  In early 2004, I bought my first filly.  Currently, my herd consists of a colt, two geldings, and two mares.  I'm boarding, as I don't yet have my own farm, so breeding is currently on the back-burner and I'm focusing on showing.

It is my dream to start a breeding program and help to refine and promote the Miniature Horse in Ontario.  I believe that this can be done without the addition of American Shetland lines, so all of my breeding stock is double-registered AMHR/AMHA with no Shetland influence.
To me, the ideal Miniature Horse is in all ways a true horse in miniature.  It should have excellent conformation with strength and substance, refined but not dainty.  It should be calm, steady, willing, trustworthy and intelligent.  It should move freely from the shoulders and hips with an efficient rather than flashy gait, showing power and drive.
